Come and enjoy a piano concert of Ragtime Music performed by Paul Stewart, music professor at UNCG and a well-known specialist in Ragtime era music.    

About Paul Stewart:

Paul Stewart retired from the UNC Greensboro School of Music in 2016 after 46 years of service. He holds music degrees from Indiana University, University of Illinois and Florida State University.

An active performer, Paul Stewart has appeared four times as piano soloist with the North Carolina Symphony.

As a 44-year member of the Music Teachers National Association, Dr. Stewart has served in elected and appointed positions at all levels of the State, Division and National levels, culminating in his election as National MTNA President from 2005 - 2007.

He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2003 Music Teachers National Association “Foundation Fellow Award”, the 2008 New York Music Teachers Association “Special Citation”, the 2009 NC Music Teachers Association “Life-Time Service Award” and the 2011 NCMTA “Teacher of the Year Award”.

Paul Stewart has had a long-time interest in Piano Ragtime music. He has presented workshops, lecture recitals and performances at state conferences and local music teacher meetings in California, Minnesota, Kansas, Wisconsin, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Hawaii, West Virginia, Indiana, and Tennessee, as well as Ragtime Festivals in Missouri, Colorado and California. He has also presented Ragtime sessions for music organizations in Manchester, England and Bologna,Italy. His 2007 Ragtime CD is titled “Rhythm and Rags.”
