Things to do
Dance Project is a school, a festival, a dance company, and a community resource based in Greensboro, with a statewide presence. Our mission is to cultivate the field of modern dance in North Carolina, nurturing a community of artists, audiences and students by providing opportunities for training, performance, collaboration, and employment. We strive to provide professional quality dance with a community feel, because we believe that great dance is for everyBODY, and we work to make dance affordable and available to as many people as possible. Through our classes, outreach programs, performances, and artist residencies, we are always working to create a stronger community through dance.
The School at City Arts offers on-going classes and workshops for children, teens, and adults in the Greensboro Cultural Center. We offer multiple community programs, including during and after-school dance classes at Title I elementary schools, and we organize community workshops and activities arts and activism, designed to highlight the power of dance and movement to build community, address important social issues, and work for social change.
The NC Dance Festival brings professional modern and contemporary dance choreography from NC artists to audiences across the state. The NC Dance Festival also coordinates an Artist in Residence program in our Greensboro studios (Greensboro Cultural Center), to nurture local choreographers and the creation of new dance work.
