8 Things we are looking forward to in 2018

Welcome to 2018! We’ve got a lot to be excited for in the 336. Below and pictured above are 8 exciting and upcoming attractions we can’t wait to share with our visitors and residents.

Carolina Cobras-Arena Football

Carolina Cobras are starting their inaugural season this year. The Cobras will join the Jacksonville (Fla.) Sharks, Columbus (Ohio) Lions, Lehigh Valley (Pa.) Steelhawks, Jersey Flight, Monterrey (Mexico) Steel and Massachusetts Pirates in the National Arena League. With season tickets starting at $99 this will be exciting to watch in the Greensboro Coliseum.

Hyatt Place Hotel in Downtown

Hyatt Place Hotel is the 1st hotel to be built in downtown Greensboro in more than 30 years. Located across from the Guilford Grasshoppers Baseball field, it’s 8 stories high and has 110 rooms. It’s expected to be complete early this year along with apartments and shop space. This is expected to be complete by Early 2018.

North Carolina Folk Festival

After hosting the National Folk Festival. Greensboro is ready to continue the folk with the North Carolina Folk Festival in Downtown Greensboro it will be free and fun for the whole family. We’re looking forward to the music and dancing that makes this folk festival one-of-a-kind and world-class fun. It’s a weekend of thousands of smiling faces and dancing people – a weekend where the fun and discovery never stops. The North Carolina Folk Festival will continue in the footsteps of the National to celebrate the spirit and heritage of cultural traditions from across the globe this September 7-9, 2018

The Carousel at the Greensboro Science Center

The Rotary Club of Greensboro is in the process of building a Carousel right beside the Science Center to celebrate it’s 100 year anniversary. This beautiful work of art created by The Carousel Works, Inc. of Mansfield, Ohio. With seats that look like the Greensboro Grasshopper and Dinosaurs we can’t wait to bring the young and the young at heart to ride the Greensboro Carousel. Expected to be completed in the summer of 2018.

Bonus: Wicked Plants

The Greensboro Science Center is welcoming a new traveling exhibit Wicked Plants from The North Carolina Arboretum. The exhibit is Inspired by Amy Stewart’s book “Wicked Plants: The Weed that Killed Lincoln’s Mother and Other Botanical Atrocities,” the exhibit gives visitors a hands-on experience with some of the world’s most diabolical botanicals— without the risk of intoxication, addiction, dismemberment or other general danger. The Exhibit runs from   January 27-May 6

Exciting New Dining including Burgerim and Leveneleven

We love that Greensboro is growing with dining options, we can’t wait to see what 2018 brings. Here are a couple we will be welcoming this year.

Burgerim will be the first in North Carolina. Burgerim is an fast-casual franchise, making waves across the United States. Known for a “It’s what you crave” approach, that serves gourmet burgers in uno, duo, trio, or 16-packs. Each burger can be customized with a variety of special toppings, buns, patties, and sauces the possibilities are endless.

Leveneleven Brewing is Greensboro’s newest tap room and nano brewery. This Brewery is a spin-off of home brewing supply shop, Big Dan’s Brew Shed, which is next door at 1113 Coliseum Blvd. We’re looking forward to see what draft they will be to our growing brewing community.

Civil Rights Trail

Launching in January of 2018 we can’t wait to be apart of this historic trial that highlights over 100 landmarks in the United States that advanced social justice in the 1950s and 1960s. Greensboro has two landmarks on the trail, The International Civil Rights Center and Museum and February One Monument. This historic multi-state trial is exciting as it shares what shaped and redefined America while emphasizing civil rights.

Seeing a New Movie at Red Cinema

2018 will have plenty of epic blockbusters in theaters from Superheroes to Indie Films. What better place to view these films then at our locally owned Red Cinema. Serving Beer, Wine and popcorn. It will be exciting to see the newest picture at Red Cinema.

Round 1 at Four Seasons

Another first for North Carolina, Round 1 Bowling and Amusement is a fun-filled way to spend the day. With Bowling, Karaoke, Billiards, Arcade, and many more. This is a multi-story entertainment center with locations all across the country. We can’t wait to have one in Greensboro. Expected to open in this year.
