REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Dads who are history buffs or antique lovers can tour the mansion at Chinqua Penn Plantation and Vineyards for free on Father's Day weekend when accompanied by a paying adult.
Chinqua Penn, one of North Carolina's noted historic mansions, is at 2138 Wentworth Street. Father's Day weekend is June 19 - 20.
Chinqua Penn is a 27-room, English countryside mansion built in the 1920s by tobacco businessman and farmer Thomas Jeff and his wife, Beatrice "Betsy" Penn. Surrounded by 22 acres of gardens and historic landscaping, the home is filled with artwork and elaborate furnishings from 30 countries. The site is on the National Register of Historic Places.
House tour admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, military and college students and $10 for youngsters over age 6.
