November 12, 2009 - Replacements, Ltd. Creates Enhanced Online Shopping Experience for Customers
GREENSBORO, N.C., November 10, 2009 - Shopping online just got even easier at Replacements.com. The world’s largest supplier of old and new china, crystal, silver and collectibles is rolling out the company’s most significant search upgrade in five years. The advanced search tool marks a substantial improvement in navigating Replacements’ nationally recognized online retail site, ultimately creating an exciting new shopping experience.
“In the past, customers could only get search results at the pattern and manufacturer level,” says Founder and CEO Bob Page. “For example, if you were looking for a gift or if you were a collector, you couldn’t get results by the individual piece. Now you can enter basic key words as simple as ‘baby’ or ‘salt and pepper sets’ and immediately see thousands of results. The new search function makes our site even more fun and really opens up a treasure trove of inventory.”
Consumers can now search by attributes such as color, piece, manufacturer or even theme-related patterns. Results are returned by the SKU or individual piece, accompanied by a prominent image. The company has expanded the site’s image library over the past five years from 350,000 to more than 1.2 million color photographs.
“Having an inventory of nearly 14 million pieces creates a very complex challenge in keeping the site fast and user friendly while still being able to offer millions of constantly changing SKUs,” says Replacements’ Senior Vice President of E-commerce Jack Whitley. “We had to find a solution that would literally put our expansive inventory at our customer’s fingertips and enable them to search our entire database for individual pieces using simple search terms. Our testing shows this enhanced search function will allow our customers to find what they’re looking for more easily and in less time.”
Customers can browse millions of pieces of inventory from more than 324,000 patterns on the site. Replacements.com receives nearly three million customer visits each month.
