April 9, 2008 - Replacements, Ltd. welcomes world renowned Waterford Crystal Master Glass Cutter
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GREENSBORO, N.C.– Replacements, Ltd. is proud to welcome Waterford Crystal Master Reintour Cutter Vincent Rellis for a rare opportunity to meet customers and sign Waterford pieces.
Working for the famous Irish crystal company continues a family tradition for Rellis. His father helped build one of the company’s first production furnaces in 1947, and Waterford also employed many of his siblings. Rellis began his career after the age of 15 as an apprentice in the craft of Rheintour or “flat cutting”. This technique is especially difficult on the stems of wine glasses because the cuts must be symmetrically placed around each stem. Waterford Crystal has designed suites based entirely on these flat cuts such as Curraghmore and the Royal Tara, inspired by 19th century Waterford Designs.
Replacements welcomes the public to visit the company’s showroom/museum and meet Rellis in person from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2008. Rellis will sign classic Waterford pieces purchased at Replacements, including a 2008 Artisan Hurricane that will be sold exclusively for the signing event. Replacements, Ltd. is located just off I-40/I-85 (exit 132) at 1089 Knox Road, McLeansville, N.C.
