Hops Around Greensboro 2014
Area breweries, restaurants and hotels invite beer connisseurs and those that just like a "cold one" to join in North Carolina Beer Month (April) and celebrate with "Hops Around Greensboro." Guests will find specials on North Carolina Beers all month long at participating locations. This years participants include Lucky 32, Mellow Mushroom, Red Oak Brewery, and Wolfgang Puck's Pizza Bar. A unique feature to the Greensboro area is the Tap N' Run 4K, where participants get a beer at different points during the race! See below for a listing of all participants:
Beer School with Red Oak at Lucky 32

Taste brews from Red Oak Brewery paired with family-style plates, plus informative commentary by Chef Jay Pierce and folks from Red Oak. (A North Carolina Beer Month event). Red Oak Brewery
Owner Bill Sherill spent his senior year in high school in Switzerland and having developed a taste for Bavarian Style Lagers decided to renovate Franklin's Off Friendly by adding brewing equipment and re-name the restaurant to Red Oak… it seemed a natural thing to open a brew pub in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Not only were they intent on brewing lagers; they wanted to focus exclusively on the rich, mellow, Bavarian Lagers known throughout the world for their drinkability. So they visited brewing equipment fabricators here and in Germany before deciding on a system from Beraplan in Munich. Franklin's was remodeled, the new equipment installed and Red Oak Brew Pub was opened in February of 1991. In addition to brewing according to the Law of Purity, we decided not to filter or pasteurize our Bavarian Lagers to ensure for that rich flavor and mellow taste. By the summer of 2007 Red Oak was ready to open the nation's most modern computerized brewing facility...consistently producing the Freshest, Purest, Bavarian Lagers in America.
Brewery tours are offered every Friday at 3 p.m. No reservations are required. You wil be treated to an in-depth brewey tour complete with samplings of the product and a collectible Red Oak glass all for only $15. Cash only.
Beer School with Olde Hickory Brewing at Lucky 32

Join Chef Jay Pierce at Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen in Greensboro on Thursday, April 17 at 6:30 PM for a Beer School and taste brews from Olde Hickory Brewery paired with family-style plates, plus get informative commentary. April 15, Mother Earth Beer Dinner at Brixx Wood Fired Pizza. A different Mother Earth brew will be served with each course of the meal. Visit their website for the full menu and more information.
Brixx Pizza in Greensboro has also switched over all of its taps (23) to feature local craft beer! All NC draft Beers are $3 on Tuesdays.
April 17, Carolina Brewery at The City Market. Enjoy a variety of beers from Carolina Brewery at The City Market in Downtown Greensboro from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Live music by Mooseknuckle.
NC Beer night for Got To Be NC Competition Dining/Fire in the Triad

NC Beer guys will be there all night, and they'll be answering all of your beer questions during the cocktail hour from 6:30 to 7 p.m. After cocktail hour you get to savor a six-course menu (three courses from each chef without knowing whose food you’re tasting) created around a "Mystery" North Carolina ingredient. The featured chefs for the evening are from Undercurrent and the Cast Iron Kitchen. The ingredient is revealed to the chefs at noon the day of their battle and it must be used in each of their three courses. Diners will rate each dish and determine who moves to the next round and who goes home. Of course, NC and Triad Brews will be poured throughout the evening.
Tap 'N' Run

Tap 'N' Run is all about friends and teams, hilarious costumes and amusing group concepts, responsible entertainment and leave-the-kids-at-home-and-let-off-some steam. Tap 'N' Run is about drinking some beer, doing some running/walking/skipping/hopping/potato-sack-racing and having a ridiculously good time!
Tap 'N' Run is an extremely short race, only 4 kilometers or 2.5 miles, which anyone can complete within an hour. Multiple 'chug stations' are strategically placed at the Start and on the race route where participants get to indulge in 5 ounces of beautiful beer on a trek to the Finish Line where a full brew awaits! In addition to an awesomely unique experience, every participant receives a sweet Finisher's medal (that doubles as a bottle opener…no, really), a race t-shirt, sunglass, a koozie & other free swag!
Tap 'N' Run is a social race & afterwards includes a hilarious Extracurricular Awards Ceremony. Winners of categories such as 'Best 'Stache' (real or fake), 'Most Unique Team Concept', 'We Wear Short Shorts' (unfortunately, hairy dudes usually win), 'Nastiest Belcher', 'Drunkest Duo', 'Most Creative Team Name' & the 'Largest Squad' are celebrated!
Nothing goes better together than pizza and beer! Visit Mellow Mushroom in Downtown Greensboro to enjoy N.C. brews. All NC Beers will be $3.50 on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Visit any other day of the week and receive $1 off NC Beers.
Wolfgang Puck Pizza Bar will host it's Cooked, Corked and Poured Event through their partnership with Foothills Brewing in Winston-Salem, NC. This dinner will feature four of Foothills Brewing's Signature Beers:
- Hoppyum IPA
- People's Porter
- Carolina Strawberry
- Torch Pilsner

Wolfgang Puck Pizza Bar will also be changing out their featured taps to include 7 N.C. Beers. The new tap configuration will include: Natty Greene's Buckshot Amber, Natty Greene's Southern Pale Ale, Foothills Brewing Hoppyum, Foothills Brewing Peoples Porter, Catawba Valley White Zombie, Highland Brewing Seasonal (rotating flavors) and Aviator Brewing Devils Tramping Ground.

Natty Greene's Brewing Company
Launched in 2004 by Chris Lester and Kayne Fisher, Natty Greene’s has expanded from a brewpub in downtown Greensboro, to include a second location in Raleigh, and a production facility in Greensboro which provides beer for the entire state. The second largest and one of the fastest growing craft breweries in North Carolina, the beer can easily be found at all major grocery stores, many independents and on 700 taps across the state of North Carolina. The core beers are the Buckshot Amber Ale, Southern Pale Ale, Wildflower Witbier and the Guilford Golden Ale. The brewery has more than 70 recipes in their repertoire, tantalizing the beer geeks with offerings like their extremely limited release Cellar Series and popular seasonals. The Bunker, a tasting room at the production brewhouse in Greensboro, is open every Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and features $3 bottles, $4 pints and limited release beers!
